“Teaching and Learning Model in 4.0 Era”
(Best Practice of Teaching and Learning Process Facing 4.0 Era
in 5 Continents)
RATIONALE
The industrial revolution has affected impacts on all aspects of life. Currently we are facing a fourth industrial revolution known as the 4.0 industrial revolution. This revolution is an era of disruptive innovation, where this era is developing very rapidly. This digital era not only has an impact on the field of industry, but also affects all aspects of human life in the world, without exception the world of education.
Facing the great challenges of the 4.0 industrial revolution, education is also required to change. The era of education which is influenced by the industrial revolution 4.0 is called Education 4.0 which one of the character is the use of digital technology in the learning process known as the cyber system and is able to make the learning process take place continuously without space and time limit.
The Covid-19 pandemic which hit the world since early 2020 has become one of the triggers for the acceleration of the implementation of 4.0 in the field of education. The school world must temporarily close down and force teachers and students to meet online. Teachers, students, as well as parents are required to be able to respond quickly to these changes and adapt to the virtual education patterns that are applied from preschool to higher education.
The challenge of education in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is no longer just talking on the classic problem of equality, fulfillment of access, and educational infrastructure, but also talking about the quality of graduates who are able to compete with the demands of development. Educators are required to be able to adapt to the times, are required to master technology first to be able to adjust to students. This is certainly not easy, given the unequal education in all countries, especially in developing countries, which still apply conventional education in teaching and learning in schools.
Although the development of education has not been able to optimally follow the “speed” of the industrial revolution, but one of the efforts that need to be made to face the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 is through improving the quality of teachers to be able to prepare superior human resources with global competence and be able to adapt to the existing era, even though information technology is developing so fast and learning resources are so easily obtained, the role of the teacher as an educator cannot be replaced by advances in technology when it is able to adapt.
The 4.0 learning is simply interpreted as learning that provides 21st century skills to students to face the challenge of globalization. To realize the above, the teacher as the spearhead of learning must be able to plan and implement quality of the process of teaching and learning. The process of teaching and learning is essentially a form of interaction between the instructor and student that takes place in a teaching situation and to achieve teaching objectives. In that interaction there will be a process of mutual communication between the parties concerned, such as between the teacher and the teacher and students as students.
To realize 21st century learning and HOTS, teachers must have good process skills in learning. Process skills can be interpreted as teacher skills in presenting learning that can provide meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences for students. Student-centered learning (student center), and stimulate students to solve problems. The teacher’s role in teaching and learning process is not only as a learning resource, but also as a facilitator.
However, the challenges faced in accelerating the implementation of the 4.0 era in the world of education are not only supported by technology in the teaching and learning process. The educational methodology is required to be continuously updated along with the “loss” of face-to-face learning between teachers and students. In becoming a learning facilitator, teachers are required to have learning innovations because the various learning targets of students must still be achieved in the target of knowledge, skills, and especially the attitude of students.
The 3rd International Conference on Islamic Education organized by ITTISHAL in 2021 is expected to answer the question of how education can produce superior generations that can adapt to the challenges of the 4.0 era. We will have the best practice of researchers and practitioners in education field from five continents to present findings and best practices in education in the theme of “Teaching and Learning Model in 4.0 Era”(Best Practice of Teaching and Learning Process Facing 4.0 Erain 5 Continents)
